The history of the brand

Graduates of the University of Arts of Utrecht, Marilyn de Vaal and Frank L. Pietersse, after the joint opening of the Art-Line studio, had no idea that they would be developing interiors for superyachts. They planned to do the familiar architectural design, but it was after working on the first two boats that they became famous. Octupussy and Moonraker by Heesen (built in 1988 and 1992 respectively).

The news of the studio quickly spread to the yachting community and more and more orders were received.

Philosophy

De Waal and Peters' experience in contemporary art, architecture and design shapes their philosophy of creating the «perfect balance between functionality and emotion».

Specialty

Art-Line Studios designs superyacht interiors as well as projects for hotels, restaurants and private residences. The company's clients include even members of the royal families of Brunei and Malaysia.

Cooperation with shipyards

The team of the studio has a longstanding partnership with such well-known shipyards as Heesen, Moonen, Feadship and HJB.

Landmark projects

Throughout its rich history, Art-Line's interiors have won significant awards at international exhibitions, such as in 2009 the Vive La Vie boat built at Lurssen Shipyard was awarded at the World Superyacht Awards, and in 2012 its success was repeated by Danish Yachts' Shooting Star. In 2013 the studio received the long-awaited World Yachts Trophy for its interior design. Vulcan 46.

The team

Marilyn de Waal and Frank Peters have been working together for over 35 years to manage their brainchild and remain the chief designers of Art-Line.
