As part of the renewal of its Sun Odyssey mass line, the Jeanneau shipyard has changed its indexing system from two-digit to three-digit - so impressive. The largest line of the new series is seriously different from the previous generation with its appearance, modified proportions (now the maximum width is pulled more in the stern, which has improved handling) and increased internal volumes. The larger rudder pen area should have improved the boat's response to the rudder, but in practice it is almost invisible.
Like all modern Jeanneau's, the 509th has a hull with high hydrodynamic properties, also made with Kevlar, which should increase its durability and survivability in difficult situations.
