The Dufour 34E is not a pure racing yacht in the full sense of the word - it is a cruising yacht with improved performance, which should perform well in club level regattas. In fact, however, the boat has been much more serious than its creators thought: in the nearly 10 years that it has been in production, it has won many regattas of the highest level, up to the Voiles de Saint Tropez.
In addition to her speed characteristics, the yacht has a very steep maneuverability: she is easy to wind at an angle of 39-40°, which is quite a good indicator for a cruising sailing boat.
