Model X 34, though already off the stage (to replace it comes a new Xr 33), but still sells well. Rumour has it that with the advent of the Cr 33, the 34 will not go into oblivion and will still remain in the production line, although it does not look quite plausible. The boat was prepared for two tasks: to «break up everybody» on the IRC handicap race course (and with a minimum crew!) and to serve as a good family weekend, not requiring much effort from the family crew. Judging by the fact that the 34th model in the USA became Yacht of the Year in 2009, the goal has been fully achieved.
The 34 has a very good mid-wind performance with very high speeds. An important detail is that this yacht has won many regattas with only two people on board (racing against full crew boats), which speaks volumes about her well thought-out design and weaponry.
