Russian teams will participate in the European Champions Sailing League

The first ever European Sailing Champions League - Sailing Champions League - will be held on October 17-19. The races will be held at Royal Yacht Club in Copenhagen and 23 clubs from 15 European countries will participate. Russia will be presented by Saint-Petersburg Yacht Club and Royal Yacht Club team from Moscow.

The regatta will have the following format: the crew of each participating club will consist of four persons, the racing vessel will be a standardized monotype of J/70 class.

Among the yachtsmen participating there will be some famous sportsmen. So, from «Rowing Club Ano» (Italy) will perform multiple champion of the world in the class Melges24 and Melges32 Lorenzo Bressani, and Austrian Union Yacht Club will present the silver medalist from Athens in class Laser Andreas Greitzer.

The Russian crews are formed as follows: Igor Frolov, Vladimir Ikonnikov, Pavel Savenko and Leonid Klepikov will compete for St. Petersburg Yacht Club, while Sergei Shvilkin, Vladimir Kiselev, Egor Terpigorev and Victor Philippov will compete for Royal Yacht Club.
