On January 1, 2015 new rules for examinations for driving small vessels will take effect in Russia. This is stated in the order of the Ministry of the Russian Federation for Civil Defence, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters of May 27, 2014, writes «Rossiyskaya Gazeta», where you can read the document in full.

According to the amended rules, from the new year, in addition to the theoretical exam, the practical part (demonstration driving) will become mandatory.

We also introduce division into license for non-commercial driving and driving boats for commercial purposes - those who want to drive people for money will have to get a license not in the Ministry of Emergency Situations, but in the Russian Ministry of Transport.

There are also provisions for license categories - the document will specify for what type of vessel (if a license was issued for driving a boat, one cannot drive a homemade mini-submarine up to 20 meters long).

Among other innovations it is possible to notice that the driving license will become international standard and will be recognized all over the world.

Those who have a valid license will not have to take a retake - old type driving licenses will be valid till their validity expires.
