On the last day of January, the International Paralympic Committee did not include sailing among the disciplines to be competed in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
This fact angered the world community. Athletes and amateurs have organised a collection of signatures on a petition calling for the sport to be returned to the programme. At the time of writing, more than nine thousand people have already signed the petition posted on Change.org.
TheISAF supported the enthusiasts and promised «to make every effort to bring sailing back into the competition programme», according to media reports.
It should be clarified that sailing as well as a form of football with seven players per team have not been included in the Games programme due to «lack of global reach».
