U.K. Coast Guard officials said they rescued the same yachtsman twice in the current week. The man, whose name was not given, unsuccessfully tried to navigate 300 miles on the 32-foot yacht Vita Lote II, using a mobile app to navigate.

The first time, the Briton was assisted a mile off the coast of St Ives, as the vessel «got stuck» near rocks. And the second time was after the yacht ran aground in shallow water in the harbour town of Poole. Each time the yachtsman's boat had to be towed.

Rescuers report that the 40-year-old skipper was using a smartphone app to navigate and had not bothered to make a preliminary plan for his intended route (from Milford Haven to Portsmouth). It also emerged that the traveller failed to notify the coastguard of his solo voyage.

For the moment, the yachtsman is safe, albeit severely exhausted. He intends to continue sailing as soon as he is ready to embark.
