There are plans to open a world-class tourist complex and yacht club in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, RIA Novosti reports. Shipyard «Fresa», which was declared bankrupt two years ago, was chosen as a launching pad. The territory was purchased by the krai authorities.

The Governor of Kamchatka, Vladimir Ilyukhin, told about the plans for development:

«There will be a marina, a hotel, exhibition space, which will certainly increase the attractiveness of the region for tourists who come to us by sea liners. (...) And what is important, it is planned to build a world-class yacht club - there will be berths for yachts, an area for their maintenance and storage, premises for yacht associations. Business will be involved for that, of course, we are not talking about using the money of the region to build all that».

By September 2015, officials plan to draw up a development concept for the former factory site «Cutter». Then the stage of attracting investors will follow. The first practical step will be the development of the marina.

By the end of 2016 it is planned to complete construction of a single tourist complex (marina, service workshops, hotels, entertainment and recreation areas) and a sea terminal.
