A Russian tourist has died after being hit by a boat in the northeastern part of the Greek island of Rhodes.

The Coast Guard on Sunday found the body of a 37-year-old woman who had gone missing a day earlier. The nature of the injuries led to the conclusion that the Russian woman was caught under the blades of a speedboat while swimming. The woman's personal belongings were found on the shore of Afandu Beach.

Police have detained a 43-year-old Swiss man on suspicion of involvement in the incident. The man is the owner of a speedboat that was spotted on the water in the area on Saturday.
