The boat «Burevestnik», on which USSR General Secretary Leonid Brezhnev liked to go sailing, has sank near the quay in the Practical Harbour of Odessa Sea Port, the UNIAN news agency has reported with reference to the port administration.

«The Burevestnik» was built in 1961 for the Navy as a communications boat. Later it was converted into the vessel for the first persons of the state. Two diesel engines «Zvezda» with 4 thousand hp each accelerated the boat to 37 knots. Its hull was built of three-layer wood, and a radio communication system «Reid-1» was installed on board.

During vacations in the Crimea on «Burevestnik» Leonid Brezhnev liked to go to sea.

After the death of the General Secretary the boat was transferred to the Black Sea Shipping Company. It was used by the head of the port of Ilyichevsk. In 1995 a businessman from Odessa bought the boat, but could not return it to the working condition and resold it. Since then the boat had been at Praktichnaya harbor. Its equipment rotted and became worthless. As the press service of the Ukrainian Navy told Segodnya.ua, the boat «sank in just five minutes».
