Latvian shipyard Latitude Yachts launched two 53-metre multihulls, which are currently the largest in the world.

The two new models Galaxy and Galaxy of Happiness were launched for the first time on 10 May in Riga. They are awaiting sea trials before being delivered to the owner from the UAE.

The futuristic look of the silver trimarans which Latitude Yacths describes as «resembling the spaceship from the Hollywood blockbusters» is the work of Jean-Jacques Coste. The exterior refers to the famous trimarans Adastra and Ady Gil.

The same designer also designed the interiors of the Latitude 53 series. In addition to the master cabin, there are two guest cabins.

The design phase took almost 30 months. Constructed from fiberglass and carbon fiber composite, the trimarans are equipped with two 2,600 hp engines that allow the boats to reach speeds in excess of 28 knots.

«It was a big challenge for me and I was brave enough to commit to this project»," admits Valdis Irbe, co-owner of Latitude Yachts.

According to him, the yard is expecting orders for two more Latitude 53, also from UAE customers.

Latitude Yachts was founded in 2006. Until now, the shipyard has been known as the builder of five 60m refit yachts, which are based in Moscow.
