«October 1-8, the twentieth Volvo Russian Sailing Week» took place on the islands of the Dodecanese archipelago in the Aegean Sea. The regatta started from Rhodes island and, passing through the islands of Symi, Tilos, Chalki, returned to the starting port, where it ended with the final coastal race. The anniversary regatta was attended by 27 crews consisting of beginners without yachting experience, amateur yachtsmen and professional skippers.

The Golden Cup «Russian Sailing Week Volvo» is a transient, twice a year it finds a new temporary owner. In the jubilee regatta, the Cup was won by the crew of Konstantin Guma on the yacht Perse. The winner was defined literally in the last meters of the intra-port race - three teams scored the same amount of points, and only the final race put everything in its place.

To mark this season's anniversary a special division «The Volvo Champions Cup» was formed, consisting of the winners of the previous regattas. A special crystal trophy for the Champions Division was specially made for the XXth regatta and will remain with the winner from now on. The best of the best was the crew of Konstantin Nazarenko. By the way, this very crew won the Cup of XIX «Russian Sailing Week Volvo».

The main feature of «Russian Sailing Week Volvo» is the possibility of participation in the regatta for all comers - both beginners and professionals.

Each boat has a certified, professional captain, who is not only in charge of the boat and crew, but also teaches the craft of yacht management. By the end of the week, many beginners are already setting their own sails and helping the skipper choose a strategy for the stage.

«For 10 years we have been busting the myth that recreational boating is a fabulously expensive pleasure for the select few. In fact, many can afford sailing. The cost of participation in the "Russian Volvo Sailing Week" is comparable with a week-long holiday at a beach resort», - said Mikhail Saveliev, general manager of the «Russian Volvo Sailing Week».

In just over a decade of history, more than 5,000 people have participated in the «Volvo Russian Sailing Weeks». The regatta, systematically held since 2007 in May and October, is now the largest amateur yachting competition for Russians.
