One person was killed and one injured in a fire that broke out at Marmaris Marina in the Turkish province of Mugla. The fire engulfed the marina and spread to moored yachts.

Three boats - «White Layd», «Cartano» and «Passion» - were completely destroyed by fire, Turkey's state-run Anadolu Agency reported .

One person, 63-year-old Ekrem Geçke, died in the fire on the yacht «Cartano». Another crew member «Catrano» - Türker Demir, who was also on board - was taken to hospital.

A Coast Guard team extinguished the fire at sea for three hours while firefighters on land did their best to prevent the fire from spreading to other yachts. The fire spread to another motorboat and a sailboat in a short time.

Causes of the fire, which broke out at 4:30 a.m. local time on April 10, are not yet known. An investigation is underway. Law enforcement agencies are developing the version of arson. British citizens Clark Billy, 34, and Rosie Patricia Glover, 24, were arrested on suspicion of arson.

Late last year a 29m Princess 95 Queen Anna owned by Ukrainian agribusiness magnates Oleksandr and Serhiy Buryak burnt down in Fethiye harbour in Turkey, while earlier a famous 70m Lurssen superyacht, The One, caught fire in Marmaris.
