Sad question.

Have you noticed, colleagues, that in the two previous Volvo Ocean Races yachts have consistently set records of 24-hour crossings in the first stage in the South Atlantic - sometimes even several times? And these crossings are such that even twice as long Mari-Cha IV rests?

And only the current race has gone without a record. Weather? Hardly. At about the same time and in the same places Luyk Peyron set a record for the crossing from the equator to the Cape of Good Hope. So what is it? Did the third revision of the rules make the boats noticeably worse or is it just that the racing became more cautious?
