From French waters comes a strange news, rather typical of Somalia. According to IBI News, the founder and former owner of Garcia Yachting was attacked in the south of Corsica.
Jean-Louis Garcia fell victim to pirates last Sunday. Masked intruders broke into the 54-foot trawler «Armageddon» and, at gunpoint, locked the owner of the vessel, his wife and a friend in the cabin. Three miles offshore, the hostages were dropped off in a dinghy. They managed to dock not far from Campomoro Beach.
Although Jean-Louis Garcia immediately reported the hijacking, the vessel's fate is still unclear. In the meantime, «Armageddon», whose value is €1 million, is running at a maximum of 11 knots and is unlikely to be far from the scene of the incident.
