A family sailing across the Pacific needed help from the U.S. military. On Saturday, the sailors reported an emergency situation - their one-year-old daughter fell ill 1,000 miles offshore.

A U.S. Air Force unit in California responded to the request for help. Four people made it to the scene by plane. They parachuted, landed in the water, inflated a rubber dinghy, scrambled over to the vessel and climbed aboard.

Thanks to the availability of medications and equipment, the rescue team managed to stabilize the girl.

In addition, the team identified problems with the control system of the 36-foot sailing yacht, on which the family of two adults and two children (the eldest is three years old at the moment) were travelling.

Rescuers were on board the vessel for some time, but then it was decided to bring the family ashore using a warship.
