Boththe route and the name of the race, Trophee Bailli du Suffren, originate from the biography of French Admiral Pierre André de Suffren de Saint-Tropez,who spent his early years in Malta. He received the title «Bailli de Suffren» from the Knights of St. John, and the nickname «Admiral Satan» from the sailors. To the French he is like Nelson to the English.

This is the longest regatta among classic yachts, the winner of which will be the holder of «Admiral Satan's Sword of Honor».Participating classes are «vintage» and «classic» and «spirit of tradition».

The last day of the race is scheduled for July 3.
