In the mecca of surfers, the Portuguese town of Nazaré, a new record for conquering big waves may have happened.

A hundred foot killer wave, triggered by storm St. Jude, was ridden by Brazilian Carlos Burle. You can watch the video here.

Together with himMaya Gabeira tried to ride the high wave. She was knocked down and lost consciousness. She was dragged to the shore where she was given first aid and then hospitalized.

The official record for conquering giant waves belongs to Hawaii surfer Garrett McNamara, set at the same location.
