The Bahamas hosted the National Family Island Regatta. Islanders raced on traditional Bahamian sloops. These boats are depicted on the coins of the island state in denominations of 25 cents. According to regatta rules, a sloop's hull must be made of wood and its sail must be made of sailcloth. The craft must be designed and built in the Bahamas, and the skipper must be from the same place. The length of a Bahamian sloop varies from 12 to 28 feet. The size of the mast, length of the boom, number of sails and crew members are not restricted.
