A race for the patient

Too much wind at Les Voiles de Saint Tropez

No matter how many times you are a millionaire, you cannot change the weather. That was the lesson learned by the owners of more than 300 classic and modern boats who gathered on the Côte d'Azur last week for the prestigious Les Voiles de Saint Tropez race. The yachts had been on shore for two days waiting for the extremely gusty winds to calm down. The fleet still had two days to find its balance before the gusts of wind blew ashore and a further two days to find its feet. The Rolex Trophy went to Maria Giovanna II, just one point behind the closest competitors, Namib and Stiren. Magic Blue won the Wally class with Vesper taking the Edmond de Rothschild Trophy.
