The Port Authority building designed by Zaha Hadid opened last week in Antwerp. The architect designed a glass superstructure in the shape of a ship's hull resting on the roof of the old fire station building. The "nose" of the superstructure is turned towards the river Scheldt. The superstructure is 100 metres long and consists of transparent and opaque triangles imitating the ripples on the surface of the water. Zaha Hadid, who passed away this year, was known not only for her unusual building designs, but also for her yacht concepts.
