240' Hanseatic Silver

At the F1 Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi, this guest distracted many people from racing. New aluminium yacht Silver is changing all ideas about speed, beauty and sustainability.

Silver has a top speed of about 27 knots, and at 22 knots it can cross the Atlantic. With its driving characteristics, it only takes 12 days to separate Australia from the Persian Gulf, and its journey to Europe becomes a 10-day cruise. The yacht's designers achieved this through a unique hull design: before that, it was unbelievable that such efficiency was even possible.

Speedy yachts from Hanseatic represent a huge leap forward in terms of sustainability and emissions reduction. Founder of Hanseatic Marine, leading German industrialist Guido Krass started working on it back in 2000. The boat of his dreams was to be the greenest, fastest and most beautiful yacht to meet SOLAS safety standards.

World renowned yacht designer Espen Oino designed a light, very narrow hull with a sharp nose for Crassus. The first prototypes were tested in St. Petersburg, in the world's largest marine test basin at the Central Research Institute of Shipbuilding named after Krylov, with the help of Russian scientists. For the first time the western company was allowed to work in this closed military institute, which is famous for its projects of super high-speed hulls for warships.

Further on, the project involved leading specialists from the shipyards... Lurssen и OceanfastAirbus engineers and consultants from McKinsey. Under the leadership of Crassus and Eino, the team spent many hours at the computers simulating the design and systems of the boat even before actual construction began.

At the specially built Hanseatic shipyard in Australia, the first hull of the project was built in 32 months, and the construction of the Silver Zwei has taken 28 months. Now there's a third hull on the slipway, but Crassus says it's impossible to speed up construction anymore because of the shipyard's high quality standards.

The uncompromising nature of these standards can be seen immediately, once you step on deck. A wide teak bathing platform makes it easy to access the water and the ladder on it turns into a diving jump. The transom hides an entire beach club with wooden furniture, air-conditioned fitness room, sauna, showers and a 6 kilowatt audio system. The expansive sun deck is designed for outdoor dining and entertainment and can also serve as a dance floor. It features a large sofa, an elevated sunbathing area and a projector with a drop screen that turns the deck into an outdoor cinema.

Automatic glass doors lead to the guest salon, which also serves as a library. Here, the design principle that all areas of the yacht follow becomes clear. White sofa upholstery is combined with white carpets and white leather ceiling trim, where speakers and lighting systems are hidden. This whiteness is contrasted by mahogany wall panels and the dark orange colour of the stand under a large TV. The straight lines and corners of the bookshelves to starboard give the interior a modern look. During the day the salon is flooded with light from the huge windows, and in the evening the decorative lighting is switched on, creating a cosy, chamber atmosphere. In addition to the large sofa, the salon also had room for a dining area for all 22 guests of the yacht.

Three large VIP cabins forward on the main deck emphasize the shipyard's attitude towards quality of its work. The beds seem to float in the soft light of the integrated lighting and the white leather walls are shaded by the elegant curves of the mahogany wall panels. The bathrooms in the cabins are equipped with double sinks of modern design and dressing tables.

On the lower deck there are four more guest cabins with showers. They are smaller in size but are finished with the same care and provide many options for guest accommodation. The partition between the two is removed if necessary, resulting in a large suite or even a family cabin. In charterers this flexibility will be very suitable.

The Owner's stateroom occupies the entire upper deck of the yacht, perfectly matching the overall splendour of the yacht. She is located forward, so the sunlight and the surrounding scenery fills her up from three sides. The bed is on a leather platform and the forward windows have a sofa with stunning views. Closer to the stern, there is a quiet work area and a door to the dressing room. In the middle of the hull there are "his" and "her" bathrooms, one with a shower, the other with a bathtub and a cosmetic table. The aft area of the upper deck is dedicated to a spacious living room, from which glass doors lead to a private terrace.

Of course, the yacht is equipped with all the "toys" for a pleasant time on the water. Two 23-foot tenders and a couple of aqua-bikes are placed on the lower deck, in the bow. The doors of the compartments open upwards like gull wings and the floats are lowered and lifted by hydraulic cranes.

With a length of 73 metres, a crew of up to 16 and the highest standards of equipment and comfort. Silver weighs only 540 tons. The unique characteristics of her hull are best illustrated by the simple fact that her size allows her to reach a speed of 19 knots. On a single engine.

Even more surprising is that the boat achieves the same speed when both its engines (MTU 16V 4000) run at only 1300 rpm. This gives an economy that most smaller yachts can only dream of when they are half their size. At 18 knots, she has a range of 4500 nautical miles - enough to cross the oceans.

Yacht Silver - is living proof of Hanseatic's commitment to building unique, innovative vessels. Her hull design gives her unrivalled speed, economy and range, but dry numbers are not all that such ships judge. Guest comfort, reliability, meticulous finishes - on all these parameters the 240-foot beauty from Hanseatic also deserves the highest marks, which already makes her a truly outstanding yacht.
