The magnificent vessel, built in steel and aluminum at the Lürssen shipyard and designed by the famous Espen Oeino, has been repainted in gray. It is said that the second owner of the Queen K asked the German shipbuilder to refurbish the interior and increase the sun deck area. The interior of the vessel was done by Donald Starkey in oriental style. With twin MTU 3,152 hp engines, the yacht is capable of speeds up to 18 knots, and at 12 knots she can cover a distance of 5,000 miles. Her owner, Russian aluminum magnate Oleg Deripaska, a friend of Vladimir Putin, is the sixth richest man in Russia, according to Forbes. His fortune is estimated at $10.7 billion according to Forbes Russia.
