At the end of September, Cartouche was launched at the H2X shipyard, which specializes in the construction and refitting of multihulls. The luxurious 95 foot sailing catamaran was the first project by Blue Coast Yachts and was built in a record time of only 14 months.
With its new design, size and finish, this speed is truly impressive. With a moderate displacement of 55 tons for its size, the Cartouche is equipped with every conceivable comfort and state-of-the-art equipment.
The technically new yacht is a three-deck composite hull catamaran with sloop sailing arms and two Cummins diesel engines. She has been under construction since August 2009 for a completely custom design, making the 14 month construction period even more incredible. The management of the H2X, however, says that if there is another order for a similar hull, its construction will take even less time.
At 28.8m long and 12m wide, Cartouche is one of the largest sailing catamarans in the world today. With a top speed of 15 knots and a cruising range of 1800 miles, Cartouche is the world's largest sailing catamaran.
