The boat show in Liverpool was canceled.

Interesting news came from Foggy Albion. Liverpool bot show, which was to be held in April this year, had to be canceled. The organizers - the company Marine Industry Events - say that they had to cancel the event due to "unfavorable economic situation and low attendance of exhibitors.

The Beatles' hometown yacht show was the first to be held and was due to begin on April 29 (just on the day of the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton) and last until May 8.

Managing Director of MIE Robert Mackenzie said that many potential participants of the exhibition "London Boat Show seemed to be a complete commercial failure, so they all had to shrink and give up booked space" in Liverpool. And he added: "We had already signed hundreds of firms, but if many of them were going to give up, the most sensible thing to do was to stop everything at the beginning". The MIE company itself, with 14 employees, has been "destroyed". It's already in liquidation proceedings.

Mackenzie also said the show, which had a budget of 2.5 million pounds, was cancelled because of the "difficult economic situation" and not the royal wedding.

Negotiations are currently underway between Liverpool authorities and local companies regarding the possibility of organizing an alternative event, but MIE will have nothing to do with it.

All of the above is a very good indicator of a trend that is becoming more and more evident. And the trend is as follows: yacht shows like format are dying. Not only in Russia, but all over the world. Participants of the world boat shows have been complaining about their constantly decreasing efficiency for several years. The Internet confidently replaces exhibitions as the main sales platform. According to a survey by the American National Association of Yacht Dealers, over 90% of state yacht owners already buy boats using the Network to select the models they are interested in.
