Since the official launch of the Mangusta Oceano in Cannes in 2016, five buildings of this range have been sold. As for the latest Gransport series, four hulls of the range have already found their owners, so the Mangusta is no longer just about fast boats, but also about economical, long-range ocean liners.

This is how Mangusta Group marketing director Francesco Frediani began his press conference in Cannes. And immediately refuted himself by introducing a new sports model Mangusta 104 Sport with a design by Igor Lobanov.

«We've been thinking long and hard about which designer to call to work on the next generation of Mongoose yachts. The decision came as soon as we saw Oceanco Jubilee, one of the most beautiful megayachts of our time,"»said Francesco Frendiani, representing Igor Lobanov, a world renowned Russian designer working in Spain.

This daring, futuristic, streamlined yacht will appeal to long-time Mangusta fans, for whom speed comes first.

Equipped with 2,600 horsepower «MTU engines in» combination with Kamewa water jets, this 32 metre sports bridge boat can fly at 35 knots. Equipped with gyro and «zero speed stabilizers, the yacht»offers comfort both at sea and at anchor. In economy mode, she can travel 350 miles - enough to walk quietly between the popular ports of the Franoise Riviera or to get from Cannes to Corsica and the towns on the Ligurian coast of Italy.

The wavy line that adorns her sides is reminiscent of Lobanov's other projects, the St. Princess Olga and Jubilee mega yachts. At the same time, the silhouette of the boat easily guesses the DNA of the Mangusta Maxi Open line.

The main differences from the old Maxi Open generation are the continuous line of glazing on the lower deck, as elegantly curved as the line of the board, the enlarged windscreen area and the recycled shape of the aft garage door, which accommodates a 5-meter tender and a double jet ski.

The beds and sofas of the outdoor recreation areas without sharp angles are organically inscribed in the exterior and seem to be part of it. As well as sports bridge which also has got smoother «natural» forms.

Inside, the boat can accommodate up to 10 people in four cabins. The interior design is also designed by Igor Lobanov and, judging by the renderings, is as futuristic and without sharp corners and straight lines as the appearance of the 104 Sport.

«For me, as a designer, for many years it has been a dream to be involved in the design of a yacht with such a rich heritage - a living legend like Mangusta. For years I looked at Mangusta yachts and thought: what could I do to make an iconic brand even more iconic? The challenge was not easy, because I had to carefully preserve his legacy. But I think we managed to find a balance between the new features and the Mangusta signature style. I am very proud of this project, -»said Igor Lobanov at the press conference on Mangusta 104 Sport.

The Mangusta 104 Sport is already under construction on the Overmarine docks and will be launched next summer. So we will be able to see the boat live already at the next boat show in Cannes.
