The most anticipated motor yachts of 2021

A hell of a dozen of the newest models from 14 to 40 meters long
Share on social media

We have already covered powerboats and compact yachts up to 15 meters in length which will be launched for the first time in 2021. In the second part of the selection we will talk about larger models.

By far the largest number of new products for 2021 has been announced by the British shipyard Sunseeker . The company plans to unveil seven new models. For the first time in its history 5 of them will be unveiled simultaneously. The last two will be at Dusseldorf Boat Show (postponed from winter to April because of COVID-19) and in Autumn.

Apart from Sunseeker, Greenline, Prestige, Azimut, Princess and Ferretti will also feature new models. Later on in the year, the ranfe from Galeon  is also likely to be unveiled -  although at this stage there are no specific details about the unveiling of a new Galeon.

From 14 to 24.9 metres

Greenline 45 Coupe

A 14.4-meter closed version of the Greenline 45 Fly is another boat that, because of the postponement of the Düsseldorf show, won't get a chance to be shown live until mid-spring.

Like all Greenlines, this is a hybrid yacht. Solar energy for charging the battery and driving the electric motor is provided by eight panels in the roof. This is enough to produce up to 15 kWh on a sunny day - enough topower four people for a day.

The other half of the hybrid engine is a pair of Yanmar or Volvo Penta shafts or Volvo Penta IPS tilt-turners. There are a total of 6 choices, with power ranging from 220 to 440 hp. Depending on the choice at maximum, the Greenline 45 Coupe is capable of accelerating to 18-30 knots.

The lower deck can accommodate either two or three double bedrooms.

In the first option, each of the bedrooms has not only its own bathroom but an equally sized dressing room as well.

Sunseeker Predator 55 EVO

This 17-metre enclosed gliding cruiser is one of five models from the British shipyard that will be unveiled in January.

The family traits of the Predator range are combined with stainless steel and carbon fibre parts.

A hi-end music system is installed on board which allows different playlists to be formed for different areas of the boat.

The galley is located on the lower deck, at midships. In addition to the full kitchen there is a table and sofa, so we can say that there is a second saloon on the lower deck.

The yard deliberately chose not to increase the number of cabins, instead focusing on comfort and luxury.

Aft there is a garage for a small tender.

The company expects the Predator 55 EVO to be extremely popular. This weekender could be called a mini superyacht for a family of four.

Sunseeker Manhattan 55

Another of Sunseeker's January premieres is a 17.2m flybridge gliding cruiser that replaces the successful Manhattan 52 of the same length, which has been in production since 2017.

Compared to its predecessor, the Manhattan 55 gets a safer «two-tiered» rails with an additional central longitudinal bulkhead. Undoubtedly, it is also a beneficial aesthetic addition to the exterior. On the stern, black carbon fibre diamond-shaped elements are added to complement the elongated line of lower deck portholes.

One of the main features of the Manhattan 55 is the power window between the cockpit and the galley.

If you lower it completely and open the door to the saloon, the model becomes as similar as possible to a boat with a semi-enclosed saloon, where on the stern side there is no clear line between the outer and inner space. The kitchen furniture is intentionally made a little lower, so that the galley looks more like a bar when viewed from the cockpit.

On the Manhattan 55 you cannot get away from the impression of being on board a larger yacht.

On the lower deck there are three double cabins with twin toilets. A further single cabin for the crew can be located aft.

Compared to the Manhattan 52, the new model also has more powerful engines.

Instead of Volvo Penta D11 (725 hp) shafts were taken by Volvo Penta D13 (800 hp). The maximum speed has increased only slightly, but this has taken the strain off the engines when the yacht is loaded.

Sunseeker 65 Sport Yacht

The second model in the Sunseeker Sport Yachts range, which took a full year to develop, will be 20.5m in length. This flybridge yacht with a sleek carbon-fibre profile and sleek stainless steel exterior styling will also be unveiled in January.

The layout of the 65 Sport Yacht will be modular. This opens up a wide range of opportunities for customization. Thus the yacht can be made more suitable for high-speed cruising as well as for relaxed cruising.

With up to 2000 hp Volvo Penta IPS Turntable Speakers, the 65 Sport Yacht is capable of speeds up to 35 knots. Good handling will allow for spectacular tight turns even at high speeds. She will also be capable of cruising up to 750 nautical miles in slow-speed mode at 10 knots without refuelling.

There are three guest cabins on the lower deck with a 5m full beam master suite at amidships. For the crew there is an additional single cabin adjoining the garage aft.

Prestige 690 and Prestige 690S

The 21.4m Prestige 690 had been planned by the French yard to be unveiled at the Miami Boat Show in February. However, because of the COVID-19 pandemic this boat show will not take place in 2021. So, one can only guess where and when the world premiere will take place.

The Prestige 690 will be available in two versions: a flybridge version and a sporty S version with a sport bridge, the latter featuring a shorter sunbathing top deck positioned aft. This will also allow her to acquire an opening hatch in the saloon roof that will be relocated from the flying-bridge roof.

Turning the flybridge into a sports bridge will reduce the Prestige 690's displacement by 2.6 tons, allowing her performance to be slightly improved.

The Prestige 690 will also easily play the role of a charter boat as she has four guest cabins as standard.

Alternatively, a three-bedroom layout with all bedrooms an equal (or in the case of the forward cabin, only slightly less) width of the 5.3-metre hull.

An additional crew double cabin is situated aft.

Sunseeker Predator 74 XPS

Sunseeker Dusseldorf will not be introducing an entirely new model, but an XPS package in which the Predator 74 and 74 Sport Yacht will be available in limited editions. The options that are included in the package are not available individually.

The yachts will now be able to be fitted with more powerful MAN 1900 engines.

The exterior and interior will be updated to match the speed performance.

A lowering table made of carbon will be installed in the cockpit. All the sofas and sun beds will be upholstered with improved materials. Even the LED navigation lights will change shape. The hull could also be painted dark grey with the superstructure in silver (the Pershing speeds come to mind).

The interior would be finished in elegant wood, with sumptuous contrasting fabrics and lacquering. Indirect indirect lighting will create an exciting and sophisticated ambience, with stainless steel and carbon fibre trim throughout.

Measuring more than 25 metres in length

Princess x80

Launching later this autumn will be the second and youngest member of the new Princess X range, unifying the concept «superflybridge». The X80 will be 4m shorter than the X95 at 25.18m.

The main difference between the models, apart from the difference in length and width (the X80 is 0.7m narrower) is the layout of the flybridge. On X95 the flybridge gently slopes down to the bow of the boat, due to which «is eaten away by» traditional open foredeck. On the X80 it's present.

Nonetheless, the X80 still boasts more interior volume than a traditional flybridge boat.

Compared to its counterparts of the same length, the X80 will be 30% roomier.

Her habitability will not be fundamentally different from her bigger sister. The lower deck will also accommodate 4 double guest cabins (one of which will be even larger than on the X95). The crew cabin on the X80, on the other hand, is a little more cramped despite the fact that the layout is limited to just one bathroom.

The option to place the master suite forward on the main deck will also remain.

Except that the suite will now also include a personal sundeck.

«The X80 is smaller, lighter and faster than its older sister». Powered by a pair of top-of-the-line 1900 hp MAN V12s, it will reach speeds in excess of 30 knots.

Too bad, the volume of fuel tanks of X80 is almost twice less than in its older sister. "Only 7000 liters.

Sunseeker 88 Yacht

Sunseeker has updated its range of yachts. The 26.38m Flybridge 88 Yacht is just one of the new models to be launched in January.

The size of the model allows guests to enjoy superyacht-level luxury on the one hand (spacious flybridge with Jacuzzi, extended swim platform, X-Tend sunbed on the garage door), and the benefits of smaller models like high speeds.

With MTU shafts of up to 3900 hp, the 88 Yacht is capable of speeds up to 28 knots.

At an average speed of 12 knots, the yacht can travel up to 1300 nautical miles without refuelling.

Not enough for a transatlantic yet. But it's already giving a lot more options than most boat owners have «slightly over 20m».

The boat can accommodate up to 8 guests. Four bedrooms on the lower deck are ready for them.

The generous master suite at amidships covers the entire flank-to-flank area (nearly 6.5m).

Judging by the layout, the total area of the owner's suite, including the bathroom and the dressing room, may exceed 30 m². This compares to a small studio apartment.

Sunseeker 90 Ocean

The latest and largest of Sunseeker's January premieres is the 27.1m Flybridge 90 Ocean.

Actually this model is also part of the Yacht range. However, as her name suggests, she has an increased range with an average speed of 12 knots, which means she can travel 1,800 nautical miles.

This means she can travel across the Atlantic.

In addition, for the first time the yacht will feature the new concept of the aft Ocean Club beach club.

Compared to the traditional swim platform, this area on 90 Ocean is four times bigger.

Four double cabins will be waiting for guests on the lower deck. Two further single cabins will be dedicated to the crew.

Sunseeker 100 Yacht

Sunseeker will launch the new 29.85m flagship of the Yacht range in the autumn.

The 100 Yacht can accommodate 10 overnight guests aboard.

Four double guest staterooms are located on the lower deck with the master stateroom located on the main deck forward. Three crew cabins for up to 5 guests are forward on the main deck.

This yacht competes with large superyachts of more than 30m in length.

The X-Tend sunbeds will be installed on the main deck aft as well as on the 88 Yacht. They can be elevated on cockpit level and rotated towards the cockpit, or they can be left on the swim platform, facing the sea.

Ferretti 1000 Project

The new 30.13-meter flagship of the Italian Ferretti Shipyard will also be launched in spring or summer. This concept envisages a sundeck extended to the bow and an elevated wheelhouse.

In terms of habitability, the Ferretti 1000 Project is comparable to the Sunseeker 100 Yacht. In addition to the main deck stateroom, 4 twin staterooms are also available on the lower deck. The crew cabin for five is forward on the lower deck.

The MTU 2200-2460 hp engines will propel the 1000 Project to a top speed of 28 knots. The maximum cruising speed is 24 knots.

Azimut Grande Trideck

Another Italian shipyard Azimut is getting a new 38.2m flagship at the beginning of 2021.

The Azimut Grande Trideck has three full decks and a small observation deck on the very top of the boat.

The most eye-catching aspect of this Alberto Mancini design is the beach club, fully protected from above by the main deck overhang and flanked bytwo elegant glass-fronted arches. The beach club area is maximized by a spacious garage on the lower deck for a couple of tenders and water toys. The swim platform can be positioned fully upright, where it forms a transom that protects the beach club from splashing and wind aft.

Another ingenious solution in terms of lay-out is to relocate the large dining area from the main deck to the upper deck. This makes the main salon as spacious and uncluttered as possible. However, this will be more of a challenge for the crew, as the dining area and galley will be on different levels.

She can sleep a total of 10 guests and a crew of 6. All bedrooms except the master suite are located on the lower deck. One of the alternate layouts involves an additional double cabin on the upper deck.
