About

History of the company

The Abeking & Rasmussen shipyard is one of the oldest shipbuilding companies in Germany. It was founded in 1907 by Georg Abeking and Henry Rasmussen in Lemwerder on the Weser River. The enterprise has begun the activity with manufacture of motor and sailing boats from a steel and a tree.

During World War I and World War II, the shipyard supplied the German Navy with torpedo boats and mine fences. To this day the company continues to cooperate with the armed forces of the country. By the 1950s, Abeking & Rasmussen had established itself as a diversified company capable of building both specialized and military boats and yachts for the private sector.

The company often attracted the attention of the public with its breakthroughs in speed. In 1973, the shipyard launched the Kalamoun boat, which was the fastest model in the world with a diesel engine. And in 1983 the Silver Shalis with a water-jet engine was launched, which was also the fastest for its time.

Today, the shipyard focuses on the production of private megayachts, passenger ships and boats for industry.

Production

In its century-long history, the shipyard has launched over 6500 boats. The Abeking & Rasmussen factory is located in Lemwerder as it was 100 years ago. There are 5 hangars, a docking station, metal and wood processing workshops. The production facilities of the shipyard allow the construction of boats up to 125 m.

Fleet

The fleet of megayachts of the shipyard consists of boats from 38 to 98 meters long, built of steel, alloys and aluminum. To date, the title of the largest model belongs to the 98-meter Aviva, built in 2017.

The company offers its clients high-speed models and yachts for transatlantic crossings. The shipyard invites famous studios - Focus Yacht Design, Reymond Langton Design, Espen Øino, Terence Disdale and others - to create projects design.

Features .

Abeking & Rasmussen was the first shipyard in the world to build a mega yacht using SWATH technology (a two-hull vessel with a small waterline cross-section). Earlier this development was used for industrial and military ships. SWATH's first mega-yacht, the 41-meter Silver Cloud, was launched in 2008. Also one of the latest shipbuilder's concepts was designed using this technology.
