Oceanco Shipyard was founded in 1987 when South African investors led by then CEO Richard Hein began building yachts. The hull and superstructure of the yachts was being built in Durban. The yachts were then transported to Holland, where they were completed at various shipyards. In 2002 the company was taken over by the Greek businessman Theodore Angelopoulos. He implemented a new strategy of building 80+ meters superyachts. Amevi, Alfa Nero, Anastasia were born. In 2009, everyone was impressed by the Vibrant Curiosity with an atrium in the middle of the hull and a 7-meter swimming pool.
In 2010, Oceanco was acquired by Mohammed Al Barwani, an Omani investor, who continued the company's previous owner.
Oceanco was almost the first to build yachts according to the new Passenger Yacht Code standard. In 2014, Equanimity was built according to the latter, ready to receive up to 26 guests on board.
In 2019 Oceanco bought the Heerema shipyard, significantly expanding its production capabilities.
In the same year, 2019, two Oceanco yachts received the World Superyacht Awards: Motor Dar and Sailing Black Pearl. They also won the prestigious Design & Innovation Awards.

Oceanco superyachts are in the full sense of a lump of innovation and avant-garde, sometimes exotic design. Besides quality and «space» exterior, the shipyard offers its clients the most advanced technology, environmental and safety standards, as well as non-trivial attributes of luxury and design, such as swimming pools, glass domes, tennis courts, and full-fledged helipads. Among the most famous Oceanco yachts not mentioned above are Dreamboat, Bravo Eugenia, Jubilee, Aquijo, Infinity.
