Designer description Morrelli & Melvin Design

Brand History

Gino Morrelli and Pete Melvin have a lot in common. Both have been passionate about sailing since childhood and have shown an interest in building yachts and started building their own boats early on. When they finally got to know each other, they both had considerable experience in the yachting industry. Together they decided to set up their own studio, Morrelli & Melvin Design.

Philosophy

Speed and performance are the main components that the team focuses on in the first place. In order to calculate the technical characteristics and create an optimal form, the studio uses its own software.

Specialty

The company is widely known for its marine architecture and exterior design for sailing and motor boats from 5 meters and more. The studio also designs and modernizes boats for regattas, such as the legendary America's Cup.

Cooperation with shipyards

The company has designed several serial sailing catamarans for the Leopard shipyard, as well as a multihull engine, and has also designed models for the American Gunboat. The team is also involved in larger projects for Wally.

Landmark projects

First of all, talking about Morrelli & Melvin, it is worth mentioning the racing boats for the teams of New Zealand, BMW Oracle Racing, and Luna Rossa - participants of the America's Cup. Not surprisingly, the Wally Shipyard, for which the 37-meter sailing catamaran Aeroyacht was designed, drew attention to the studio.

Team

The studio's office is in Newport Beach, USA, where Gino manages the design, development and sales departments. Pete manages the design office and is involved in all stages of the design process.
