History of the company

The Chinese company Tricon Marine has Canadian roots - it was founded in 2007 in Zhuhai, which is located in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong. The company was led by experienced American and European shipbuilders led by David Adams and Christos Livadas.

The top managers of Tricon Marine have had 75 years of combined experience with companies such as WestBay and Ocean Alexander. For two years the company has been preparing personnel for the launch of a new shipyard, and it was only in the spring of 2009 that it officially opened. In the first five years, over $30 million has been invested in production capacity.

The decision to start production of yachts in China was motivated by the desire to reduce the cost of building luxury yachts. At the time, it was possible to save up to $15 million to build a typical 30 metre yacht at a cost of 400,000 man-hours. The result was a yacht 60% cheaper than her North American and European counterparts.

The Tricon Marine factory is located in Zhuhai. The production area of the shipyard is 55,000 square meters. The yard employs over 200 people with at least five years of work in the shipbuilding industry.

When fully loaded, up to 16 yachts can be built indoors at a time and two more at the berth.

Modern composite materials such as fiberglass reinforced plastic and carbon fiber are used in yacht construction. All works are carried out according to the established North American standards.

The Tricon Marine range is based on Argos and Nisi expedition yachts and trawlers.
