What do we remember the year 2013? The editorial staff of itBoat remembers the most significant events and the brightest and most active people of the outgoing yachting year. We have put our results in nine major hashtags.

The first round-the-world adventure of the Barca« Sedov» was successfully completed this summer.
The sailboat spent 14 months on the way, passed 47 thousand 125 nautical miles, four times crossed the equator, circled the legendary Cape of Gorn and Cape of Good Hope and July 20 docked at the quay of Lieutenant Schmidt in St. Petersburg.

We didn't lengthen the list and stopped at two people. So, our people of the year are the designer Igor Lobanov and the champion and beauty Stephanie Yelfutina (here we are in solidarity with the national award).
Thanks to Igor Lobanov in 2013 such exotics as Russian megayacht design were recognized internationally. He received the World Yacht Trophies statuette in Cannes as the best designer of the year, and the megayacht St Princess Olga designed by him for Oceanco Shipyard won the award for the «best design of a yacht over 50 meters».

SB 20, Beneteau Platu 25, GP 26? These boats have become native to sailing enthusiasts in the past year. It was possible to chase the new monotypes very well without leaving. The Royal Yacht Club opened the sailing school of Ekaterina Skudina with a modern fleet of Beneteau Platu 25, the Yacht Club «Gals» regularly held training sessions on match-race and racing boats GP26. And if at the beginning of the season all slowly tried, at the end of the season so entered the taste, that boats for all comers simply began to lack.

Our choice is Monaco Melges20 Winter Series. This is the first time our compatriots have organized an international sporting regatta of this level. Their teams «Synergy» and RUS7, with the support of the Monaco Yacht Club, arranged for Russian yachtsmen to study with their professional colleagues, rather than sit in the off-season. According to the editorial team, the initiative has a good future.
