This year we decided to take a little break from the traditional selection of a la «7 best yachts of the Festival» de Cannes and take a wider focus. We will be writing about everything that Cannes has to offer during the Yacht Show from 8 to 13 September.
We'll update the article every day! Stay tuned.
Let's start our broadcast with a chic video showing what it's like when a very big yacht show comes to a small Mediterranean town. So, 550 boats are standing in the port of Cannes waiting for 50,000 visitors.
38th Cannes Yachting Festival exhibition from a bird's eye view.
We dug up a video for backstage fans. The workers methodically tie up the yachts and tie up the cranes in anticipation of a multi-day influx of guests.
Five-minute business news: the Ferretti Group is investing €50 million in 27 new boats. Plans for three years: 6 new models in 2015, 12 in 2016 (including 4 restyling boats) and 9 in 2017.
And another photo under Made in Italy label is a neat Ferretti 550.
And here's some Mediterranean romance for you.
Welcome to the Azimut booth, which this year will present the 72nd model.
The picture from the fans of the size XL is the first hull of the superyacht line AB 145. Her name is Fast & Furious - fast and angry, in short. It's premiere.
Sunseeker is waiting for guests. Wine, ice, beautiful boats - all as we like.
Italian Sanlorenzo - left SL 106 and premiere SL 86 on the right.
That's it for tonight, time for bed!
Behind Sylvie Ernu's microphone, she and her team are responsible for everything at this show. Last year we interviewed her, asked her about the latest trends and what it would be like to host such a great show. We'll leave a link to the article here.
This is what a protected brokerage area looks like at the exhibition - it stands apart from the main exposition. Players noted the high demand for charter this year. The top destination for a 40-50m holiday is Ibiza.
Skipper quote: "Osprey is probably the coolest tender I have seen in 26 years in the industry. Booth SYE 029, who cares. They wrote about it last year.
If you step aside a little, the picture will be like this:
Italian shipyard Arcadia told details about recently announced eco-friendly model Sherpa, which added to the manufacturer's GPR range, which also includes Arcadia 85, Arcadia 100 and Arcadia 115. Feature of the 17-meter "Sherpa" in a flexible layout and unexpectedly large storage space. While the novelty is being built, the older sisters went on test drives. Here is a picture of Arcadia 115, which is preparing to go to sea in Cannes.
The Cannes chip is just in the widest range of choices and the opportunity to test the boat immediately. If you are looking for a yacht for the Mediterranean, you will not find a better exhibition. The yacht show in Genoa, despite all the attempts of the show managers, continues to slowly decline. So there is essentially no alternative for today.
Most test drives are either in the morning or in the evening. Sailboats are also allowed to take a test drive. Like this one.
Not all boats in Cannes are on water. The famous "Cigarette".
Exquisite Riva Aquarama participates in the Concours D'Elegance parade. Boats of up to 12 metres take part in the parade. There are a lot of people to see the elegant runabouts and other boats. Shadows from their heads ruined a lot of frames...
We'll conclude the day with a selection of photos from Vladimir Butuzov of the Larus Yachts agency for the diversity of the festival and its surroundings.
The hull of the 43-meter boat is made of aluminum.
Well, what a report without photos with beautiful ladies.
Unfortunately, not only good things happen at the exhibition. As it became known to us, a young woman died on Saturday afternoon during a rib test drive. During the incident, the sea was calm. The journalist made a sharp maneuver, after which the woman was overboard, where she was hit by the propeller and was fatally wounded.
Saturday evening ended with the traditional presentation of Yacht Trophy figurines on the waterfront of the Carlton Hotel. The program included an award ceremony, a parade of yacht nominees for the main prize and a salute.
As a rule, the last day of the exhibition is the most unproductive. All important meetings are held, and people are relaxed from loud Saturday parties. So we'll just leave this short farewell video.
