Category Description
Speaking of classics, we, of course, first of all imagine boats from the fleet of famous classic regattas ( "Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez" or "Panerai" series). They are yachts of all classes, sizes and ages. "tenders", "schooners", "sloops", "ketches" ("gaff" and "bermuda"). They are mainly yachts with wooden hulls and spars. Many of these boats have been carefully restored thanks to the enthusiasm of their owners. It is not easy to manage such yachts, and the living conditions on board, by today’s standards, are not comfortable. It is not only being honorable but also being very responsible to become the owner of such a yacht.
As a rule, all yachts racing in the classical regattas have their permanent teams. By buying a famous boat, a new owner, by default, takes the responsibility for the «social» life of the boat and its participation in races. Many classic lovers do things differently by finding old hulls and restoring them from oblivion. Those who have undergone the process of restoring a wooden yacht say it is a very laborious and creative task. There are also replicas of famous boats from the past in the classic fleet. In general, all of these are exclusive and luxurious wooden boats that are being built piece by piece.
However, modern shipyards are quite active in building boats in classical style. These include "Spirit", "Brandt-Moeller", "Haber" "Yachts", "Cornish" "Crabbers”. Typically, these are mass-produced yachts or yachts of limited production, which also participate in regattas of classic yachts or just cruise the sea for the pleasure of their owners. All these boats are very beautiful by any standard.
