Category Description

Gozzo and lobster boats are geographically related and characterize the traditional maritime tastes of certain regions. In addition, both the aforementioned types of boats are bright representatives of the “romantic retro style”, so we have combined them into one group.

Gozzo boats originate from the specific fishing boats that are common in Italian coastal provinces. The exterior lines of the gozzo are soft and rounded. They converge at the stern on a dome-shaped transom which is always paired with a rounded swim platform. The boards of modern fiberglass gozzos often replicate the clinker cladding of their ancestors, and their decks are made of high-quality teak. As a rule, they are equipped with rowing shafts and develop high speed in the planing mode.

The northern states of the Atlantic coast of the USA are the homeland of “lobsters” where these fishing boats have become the analog of pickups on the water. Modern lobster pleasure yachts have little in common with the traditional boats of arthropod hunters where the hulls had an “upturned” nose, round-bilged lines and a pronounced keel to protect the propeller and the rudder. Recreational “lobsters” have a much wider hull of the transitional or planing type, and they can be easily recognized by the characteristic short overhang of a hardtop.
