A six-year-old French girl was killed in a boat crash in the Atlantic Ocean, 900 kilometres from the Azores.
The girl was travelling with her parents and older brother when the boat went down due to a strong storm. The tragedy happened on May 7. The family of yachtsmen had to spend several hours overboard before they were picked up by a merchant vessel. The child, who didn't recover from hypothermia, died in hospital.
It should be noted that the severe storm in the Atlantic caused several emergencies at once. Another four yachts reported to rescuers that they were in distress. A total of 12 people were evacuated from them.
