"The Asian Tigers have taken a liking to water.

While Europe and America are licking their wounds after the world financial crisis and recovering from the economic downturn, the Asian tigers are actively growing and busily yachting. We would remind you that the most luxurious boat in the world, Baia 100 HISTORY SUPREME, was created in 2008 for an anonymous businessman from Malaysia. It cost $4.85 billion. It took 3 years and 100 tons of precious metals to finish this 30-meter yacht from pure gold and platinum. Even Roman Abramovich with his Eclipse and Luna is nervously smoking in the corner.

Thailand's Phuket island once again hosted the traditional PIMEX International Boat Show from March 29 to April 1. The exhibition area including both water area and land areas was able to exhibit boats of total value more than a quarter of a billion dollars.

There were no high-profile world premieres. Azimut/Benetti, Sunseeker, Fairline, Ferretti took part quietly. Jeanneau, Beneteau, Nautor Swan, Hanse and others satisfied the interest of sail enthusiasts. The point of attraction was the exhibited 92-foot Pershing.

Of course there was a wide range of electronic navigation systems, engines, sailing equipment, accessories and many other things needed to maintain boats and show the world around you that you are a part of the yachting world.

The most important thing about such an event, though, is the atmosphere, so participants thoroughly enjoyed visiting coastal restaurants with Thai cuisine, taking part in an extensive cultural programme and enjoying the tranquil atmosphere of Phuketka.
