Heesen Yachts launched the aluminum semi-displacement yacht Akoya in a private ceremony on April 1. Akoya is the fifth hull in the 50m series and was designed by Omega Architects. She has a recognizable series look. Akoya's hull is painted in «shark grey».

The interior space of the yacht has been optimized. The yacht has the maximum possible interior volume with a gross tonnage limited to 500 BRT. She can accommodate up to 12 guests in her six cabins. The interiors of the 50m yacht have been designed by Cristiano Gatto. The master stateroom is located on the main deck and the other five cabins are on the lower deck. All have their own sanitary facilities.

Akoya is now awaiting a sea trial where she is expected to reach a top speed of 23 knots. She is expected to be handed over to her owner in June 2016.
