The mummified body of a German yachtsman was found on board a yacht that went missing seven years ago.

SAYO, a 12-metre yacht drifting 40 miles off Barobo, was discovered by Filipino fishermen. The boat had a broken mast and much of its interior was filled with water. Once on board, they found a mummified body near a radio phone.

Thanks to photographs and documents found on board, they managed to identify the deceased. It turned out to be the owner of the yacht, an experienced yachtsman from Germany Manfred Fritz Bayorat.

The cause of Bayorat's death is still unknown. The investigation assumes he died of natural causes. According to one of the versions, the yachtsman died of a heart attack. The mummification of Bayorat's body was caused by salt and high temperatures.
