Russian Open Championship in the class «Dragon» has started in the Gulf of Finland on the base of St. Petersburg Yacht Club. The regatta started at a waning wind of 5-6 knots. After the first race the wind finally died down, so the organizers had to cancel all the other planned races.

The only race of the day was an exciting race. The leaders were constantly changing: thus, at the first mark Vasily Senatorov's team took the lead, and at some point RUS 76 Dmitry Samokhin came in eighth, but managed to take second place.

Alexey Murashkin's RUS12 was second and third during the race, but took the lead only on the last tack. On the approach to finish, Murashkin and Samokhin fought a match race.

«Not that Samokhin didn't succeed - they tried very hard, but still Alexey Murashkin won, having somehow accelerated the boat better», - commented the results of the race committee chairman Vladimir Komel.

It was interesting that the winning team(Alexei Murashkin, Vadim Statsenko, Alexander Shalagin) competed for the first time in their current line-up.

«There wasn't much wind, which was good for our crew - we managed to feel each other, because we race together for the first time», - said helmsman Alexey Murashkin.

On Friday, July 28, two races are scheduled. All results
