The famous Norwegian manufacturer of clothing for extreme sports Helly Hansen has become the owner of British brand of professional yachting outfit Musto. But it doesn't mean that the legendary brand has fallen into oblivion; Musto will still produce clothes with its own logo, and even the company's management will remain the same.

« Musto brings Helly Hansen closer to its long-standing ambition to become a world leader in sailing, which complements our leadership in professional skiing," said Helly Hansen CEO Paul Stoneham. - 'We will focus on promoting Musto internationally as an iconic British brand that leverages in-depth sailing technology, alongside the development of Helly Hansen. The two brands complement each other well».
The value of the deal is being kept under wraps, but if an anonymous source is to be believed, the purchase cost Helly Hansen around £50 million.

Musto was founded in 1965 by British Olympic yachtsman Keith Musto. It was she who introduced the world's first three-layer clothing system for sailors and supplies equipment for the RNLI, the Royal National Water Rescue Society. During its existence the company was twice awarded the British Royal Order.

The history of Helly Hansen began in 1877. Since then, the manufacturer «has been making professional equipment to help people stay alive and feel alive». The new acquisition makes the company one of the world's leading suppliers of sailing clothing and technical equipment.
