Russian company Baikal Yachts, which develops, designs and builds yachts in the Russian and CIS markets, has presented a concept of a 35-metre catamaran powered by hybrid engines Baikal 35.

The concept was developed by the order of a day cruise operator. The customer wanted to get a ship for day cruises with high comfort and modern design that looks more like a luxury yacht than a utilitarian workhorse.

The platform designed by Baikal Yachts designer Maxim Lodkin turned out to be versatile enough to be used not only for short day cruises, but also for multi-day charters and even as a private superyacht.

All three versions have in common a fast displacement hull, tri-deck layout, flybridge and hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system with varying capacities.

As the variant for day cruises does not require high speed, her engines will be limited to 500 hp and she will be able to accommodate up to 300 persons on the open decks. The charter version will have 6 to 10 cabins and 900 hp.

The private owner version will be the fastest and richest in terms of equipment and finishes, as well as the fastest: the engines will have a combined power of up to 2,000 hp.

The second deck of this version will be all hands on deck for the owner. There is a large 70 m² Master cabin, a private saloon with a bar and a 180-degree view of the sea, a sundeck with sunbeds and sofas. Two guest cabins are located on the main deck and four more on the hulls. Moreover, there is a crew cabin for 4 persons on the lower deck.

If Baikal 35 ever gets built it will be the biggest project for Baikal Yachts whose yachting portfolio has been limited to 20m until recently.
«Taking into account new trends and the trend for catamarans, our company decided to offer to the yachting world a concept that allows the yard to rebuild quickly according to market demands without significant changes in the main hulls», - says Sergey Gmyra, owner of Baikal Yachts Group.
