Stephen Murray Jr's Volvo 70 Warrior was the first single-huller to cross the Antiqua Bermuda Race finish line, completing the 935-mile route from Antigua to Bermuda in 3 days 20 hours 32 minutes and 41 seconds.

«I have no doubt this record will be broken in the future," commented Warrior tactician Will Oxley. - This race can be completed in 50 hours under the right conditions».

For now, the future does not look so optimistic for Warrior's closest class rivals. Good result was shown by Freya but at 150 miles from the finish she hit the doldrums and her hopes of winning after the recalculation slowly fade away.

The CNB 76 Lilla is going well, but nevertheless she is 250 miles from the finish line. Classic 1978 ketch El Oro and Hanse 43 Avanti are 350 miles from the finish.

Andrew and Sabrina Eddy's Oyster 485 Gaia is 411 miles from Bermuda. Although the team can use the engine under CSA rules, they have so far stoically relied solely on the sail.

«All is well on Gaia and we are enjoying these blue waters and skies. Fishing has given us hope of eating tuna medallions or mahi-mahi, but so far our efforts have only yielded a seaweed salad. The availability of a galley, however, means we can enjoy three meals a day prepared by the youngest member of the race, 19-year-old Phoebe Cochrane. Yesterday's Bombay pork in mustard sauce with dauphiné potatoes, a glass of Oyster Bay Chardonnay, and sorbet grapes for dessert are our favourites so far»," Andrew Eddy told the race media team.

The next yacht expected to cross the finish line of the regatta is the 78ft catamaran Allegra, designed by Nigel Irens.
