«Museum Night» at the shipyard

On May 19 the St. Petersburg Historic Shipbuilding Shipyard will host «Museum Night».

Participants of «Museum Night» will be able to see the ship's hull without scaffolding - from the keel to the afterdeck - for the last time before the launching.

The shipyard will host a photo exhibition «From the keel to the great ship». The photos will show all the stages of ship construction: from laying the keel to installing the last plank of skin.

Shipyard guides will tell about the history of the ship «Poltava», teach visitors to understand nautical terms.

At the end of each tour a festive firing of the ship's cannon on the shore of the Gulf of Finland will take place.

The Night of Museums campaign «» will take place for the third time in the historical Poltava shipyard «» . It is possible to get on a tour using a single ticket «Museum Night», which can be purchased in advance or on-site.

The ship will be launched on May 27. The unique wooden ship will be completed in the St. Petersburg Yacht Club, it will take about 10 months. All the necessary systems, masts, rigging, sails will be mounted, ballast will be laid and interior finishing works will be completed. After all the construction works are finished the ship will become the center of a large modern interactive museum complex devoted to the sea history of Russia.
