St. Petersburg will host the qualifying round of the European Champions Sailing League

August 3-6 in St. Petersburg will be held competitions between strongest yachtsmen of Europe in the qualifying round of the European Champions Sailing League. Representatives of 24 yacht-clubs from 16 countries will take part in the sailing races. The racing village will be set up at the Peter and Paul Fortress and will be open to the public.

In the qualifying round teams who won prizes in the national sailing leagues of their countries will compete. The winners of the races will go to the International League final that will take place in Switzerland at the end of summer.

For the third year in a rowSt. Petersburg will host the competitions.

The upcoming event promises to surpass all the previous ones: the number of participants is increased by one third and the geography of teams is enlarged.

Russia will be represented this season by the Saint Petersburg Yacht Club team, crews «Navigator» and «PIRogovo» from Moscow, as well as teams from Ekaterinburg: «Lord of Sails - Europe» and «Lord of Sails - Asia» which recently became the absolute winner of the Nord Stream Race 2018 Baltic Race.

International participants will include sailors from the world famous British Royal Ocean Racing Club. Last season's winners will also perform on the Neva: the team «of the North German racing association» from Hamburg, the crew of the titled yacht club from Geneva, the Danes from Frederikshavn, the Austrians from Lake Ahzia Yacht Club, the team of Finnish Nyländska Jaktklubben and the team of Polish Yacht Club of Sopot.

For the visitors of the racing village on the beach of Peter and Paul Fortress there will be places for watching the races. You will also be able to play beach volleyball, have fun in the rope cube, practice windsurfing on the beach simulator as well as sailing simulators for adults and children.
