U.S. Secretary of Education's 50-meter yacht crashes into pier

«An unidentified person unmooring the 163-foot superyacht of » U.S. Secretary of Education Elisabeth «0 Betsy DeVos» caused the boat to collide with the dock and caused about $10,000 worth of damage.

The vessel, named SeaQuest, was at Huron Boat Basin Marina when the captain discovered the 50-foot boat was unmoored and drifting with the current. The crew managed to take control of the vessel, but by then the $40 million superyacht had already sustained damage when it collided with a jetty.

Damage is estimated at $5,000 to $10,000.

Police are now trying to reconstruct the details of what happened through surveillance footage.

Elizabeth Devos is the daughter of American billionaire Edgar Prince and the wife of Richard Devos Jr, the son of the founder of Amway Corporation. SeaQuest is one of 10 boats owned by the Devos family.

The yacht was built by Westport Shipyard in 2008. Her exterior and interior design was influenced by the interior design of Donald Starkey. With a beam of 9.3m, the yacht can comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests and 13 crewmembers.

Powered by twin MTU 16V4000M90 3,600 horsepower engines, the vessel has a top speed of 24 knots and can cruise to 3,700 nautical miles at 12 knots.
