A Russian motorboat rammed a sailboat in Montenegro

In Montenegro the motor yacht Azimut 50 «Flipper» sailing under the British flag collided with the sailing yacht Bavaria «Karukera» under the Polish flag. As a result of the accident, two people on board «Bavaria» were killed.

The collision occurred 8 miles southeast of Oblatno Bay in Traszte Bay.

At the time of the collision, the speed of the motorboat, driven by Ivan Fatovic, a 30-year-old skipper from Tivat, was in excess of 20 knots.

The collision hit the stern of the motorized sailing boat.

There were three adults on the motor yacht, including the boat owner, Muscovite Sergei Hotuleva, and two children, except for the skipper. None of the passengers of «Azimuth» were injured.

There were 11 people aboard the sailboat, including five children. «As a result of the collision, the skipper», 39-year-old Polish citizen Piotr Makowski, and one of the passengers - 46-year-old Emilia Piaskowska - died on the spot. One of the passengers was thrown into the sea and was picked up by a boat that was sailing nearby.

«Bavaria» was towed to the Zeleniki marina. « Azimut» returned to the port on its own wheels.

Local authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. The skipper of the motor yacht was arrested.
