Yesterday in San Francisco there were two races between Oracle Team USA and Emirates Team New Zealand. Which is atypical in itself: due to set wind limits and time constraints there has been more and more of a single race these days, if at all. This regatta has already earned the title of the longest ever America's Cup «». The stretch, however, could not be further from here. The Americans won both races to even the score at 8 to 8. The next race will be decisive. Note that in the 162-year history of the Cup situation «winner takes all» played out only twice - in 1920 and in 1983. The first time the trophy stayed with the defender, the second time it went to the Challenger.

In races 17 and 18 we saw an aggressive pre-start fight. In the first one, the fight on the pre-start line ended in a penalty for the Kiwis. A mistake made at the start actually decided the outcome of the race. After the acquittal Team New Zealand failed to catch up with their rival. The Oracle crew beat them by 27 seconds.

The Kiwis had a small advantage at the start of the 18th race, but they could only hold it for two sections of the distance. The struggle ended at the finish line with an Oracle advantage of 54 seconds.
