Feadship has been announcing a new superyacht project a month ahead of the Monaco show with a cryptic video hinting at a new «monarchy» superyacht.

The Monaco Yacht Show has provided a glimpse of what a superyacht for royalty might look like. The Feadship Royal was unveiled on the show. Feadship Royal is the yacht of choice for King Willem-Alexander and his wife Maxima of the Netherlands. The designers imagined how to make it so that all their potential needs would be satisfied. Stately and modest, glamorous but practical at the same time - this is how they describe their brainchild, designed to be the royal couple's maritime home and to represent the Netherlands' achievements in the maritime industry. The 282-foot-long and 45-wide yacht will accommodate Willem-Alexander and Maxima with their three children, 8 guests and a crew of 22.

The official press release recalls that Feadship has created a number of boats for dignitaries, including Piet Hein for Queen Julianna, Willem-Alexander's grandmother. The Royal couple would never have dreamt of having a Feadship designed and the yard's managers themselves insist that it is not «an official donation», although they do hope that their idea «will amuse» potential owners. That's a neat little hint! Well done, Feadship!
